The children are offered a wide range of extra curricular activities after school hours. Clubs available at present are:
This is club is held Thursday afternoons between 3.30-4.30pm, during the Spring and Summer terms. It is a free club and all children are welcome to participate and is run by a parent volunteer and teacher. We have developed a large garden area at the school which consists of shrubs and trees, soft fruit and raised vegetable beds.
Dragon Sport Club
This is held on Thursday afternoons between 3.30-4.30pm in the Autumn term and on Tuesday afternoons between 3.30-4.30pm in the Summer term. It is a free club and all children are welcome to participate. The club is run by a parent volunteer and 3 bronze ambassaors [2x yr.6 pupils and 1x yr.5 pupils] who support the leaders during the session. During the sessions the children are taught about fitness, improving fitness, learning new skills and playing games. The club follows the key principles and learning objectives of Dragon Sport Wales.
The cooking club is also held on a Thursday afternoon between 3.30-4.45pm, during the Autumn term. The club is offered free to children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Two teachers support the children in learning to develop cooking skills and also practical kitchen skills; chopping, peeling, washing up, cleanliness etc.The children are able to take their meal [main course or pudding] home and share with the family for supper! No cooking for mums and dads on Thursdays!
The Adran is a club which offers a range of fun activities to all children at Ysgol Hafodwenog. In order to attend the club, your child must be a member of the Urdd. The activities offered to children include:
- Art and craft activities
- Drama and music games
- Visits from individuals from the community
- Preparations for the Urdd Eisteddfod
- Cooking and sports activities
- Trips i.e. The Cinema and the beach.
The Adran Club is held during the Autumn and Spring terms every Tuesday afternoon from 3:30p.m to 4.30p.m and costs £1.00 a week to attend.
